Read this article by Ms Shenton, on mypaper / 我报. 'whom graces articles on mypaper with various topics of life and mainly from a lady's point of view.
This time she writes about 'Why Marry? 为什么要结婚?' as to why women have this mentality that they have to marry before 30? Making it their sole mission in life. Yes, Marriage is a blessing, a bonding of 2 persons whom feel so right about each other and want to make that commitment. But towards getting that goal, have they forgotten what marriage was suppose to be about? In that quest of Marriage, which is like fulfilling a fairytale that has been told too many times again with '..and they lived happily ever after'.
In a way, the article strikes me (being a person whom knows she's hitting thirty & most of her classmates have kids-not 1 but 2..) and it also explains to men, why their other halves have this notion and to women, what do you wish to gain by getting married?
Personally, i do see the clock ticking. but i've gotten over that. I realised there are more important things than rushing through life, making bigger mistakes and having a Divorcee tag (sorry, no ill meaning) on me. Though yes, it enables me to focus on work without worrying about relationships and it's wonderful having someone to hug & kiss my troubles away when i've had a bad day, anyday, always; Still, its no reason to rush through it. it takes years to know a person, forever to understand one.
When Ms Shenton mentioned of a woman whom manages friends, life, work, fun and family independently, i agreed with her. Pay my own rent, settle my bills, know what i want and don't need, pays for her own purchases, don't need to rely on anyone. But then again, most men want a demure, quiet, easy going little thing. haha.
