Synopsis: Kate lost her baby 'Jennifer' to miscarriage and after having 2 kids Max (a girl) & Daniel, she decides adoption would be a great option after visiting her shrink whom she has been visiting. Kate has sucessfully gone a year from alcoholism and her husband John stands by her, the family is happy and contented, untill Ester joins them from the adoption centre. What hides behind that demure face? Why does she wear ribbons on her neck and wrist? Are her paintings of beautiful houses and happy people truely what's visible to the naked eye or something more sinister?
Review: I enjoyed it. In fact, too intrigued with Ester to take my eyes off the picture. Although the first 15-20minutes of the movie moved slow to introduce the characters; the movie was full of suspense after Ester came into the picture. There was a constant anticipation of the horror to come. The mirror in the toilet move, oh they did good. you though it was gonna scare but it didn't. And so when you presumed the same for the next time it happened,, you were surely surprised. The movie was well written with an interesting story, the movie was well directed (although limited to a house with white snow all around) This is afterall directed by Jaume Collet-Serra of House of Wax and co-directed by a team which included Leonardo DiCaprio.
I've never seen a movie where sign language was extensively used. Max, their daughter couldn't hear well and wore a hearing aid which could have been carefully added to the plot so she couldn't scream when Ester played her little games. And Isabelle did a great job acting as Esther. In fact, the kids did most of the work in this movie! I especially like the paintings bit, you'll have to watch it to find out!
Bottomline: It will just please you that you hadn't wasted 120minutes of your life. The movie had a few scares, 3 bloody scenes, unique twist and a scary looking kid. As compared to Jaume Collet-Serra's previous work House of Wax, this pales in comparison, by a tiny bit. just a tiny bit due to the lack of in-your-face gore (remember Paris being chopped?)
7.5/10 * Good, not good enough (for horror fans) as i'll like to say.... Elvis Presley - A Little Less Conversation

Review: Without reading its synopsis and solely based on the genre, i launched right into the movie. I have to admit it was starting rather okay - i was greeted with psychotic killers and a mad girl whom kisses her victims. But after that initial few 20 minutes, it got into almost half an hour of lengthy kidnapping and constant terror. Which i felt was too draggy, despite the huge amount of tension and fear which was suppose to reflect the horror of the situation felt by 2 innocent young girls kidnapped by that same group of people (a family of psychos) and how they were brutally murdered (horrific slashing scene which hurt my gut) and while one was helplessly raped and how she bravely ran and swam for her life but was gunned and left to die in the waters...complete with rainstorm. The movie was well written - afterall, it was a remake of the previous film in 1972 of the same title but it was the cast that made the movie such a success. You can't add emotions and horror with just knifes and tears. They weren't very famous (as in everyone knew Bradpitt) actors and actresses but they did an amazing job. You do get affected and can't help feel for the two girls, their family members and be struck with cautioned to leaving your children out and about, or letting strangers into your house after that. You might recognise Sarah Paxton whose a young budding actress whom i often mistaken as the actress for Clueless, Alicia Silverstone or the lady in The Notebook, Rachel McAdams I can't help it, she looks innocently as Alicia and when she's all dressed up in the movie 'The Shopaholic' she resembled Rachel McAdams. Moral of story? It gets back to you. Question: Should the law protect innocent people whom commit manslaughter to avenge their family members or should they be guilty as charged?
9/10 Good acting, good thriller. many emotions with slashings. must watch Horror: 6.5/10 Gore: 9.3/10 (hammer in head, exploding something.....ahem you might think twice on using your microwave oven) Blood: quite alot. 7.5/10

Review: I got to say, this movie was like, Wham Bam KaPow and Koo Koo!cos it threw the story to you quickly , hits you with the crazy woman story, cat fight and then it ends with you going 'Koo Koo women!' = crazy women! . It wasn't draggy as it delivers the main points of the story quickly, introducing each character, their personality and what's the current situation up to the point where Crazy Woman (Ali Larter) appeared and created a sexual romance all up in her head about Derek (Idris Elba) and executed them. That of course makes Sharon (Beyonce) very..very angry. I bet women would love this movie. we love seeing crazy third party get beaten up (well i do) And the men would crave to be in Derek's situation, being sexually harassed; flashed by a sexy woman and yes, 2 women fighting over themselves. There's alot of suggestive scenes but no flashing of boobs or whatnots as both leading ladies have perfect bodies. overall, i enjoyed being told there could be such kookoo! women in this world and the fight scene was great addition. Acting wise, all did their parts but it wouldn't be as excellent if Ali wasn't in there. I loved her in Hero and i love her in this one too. She made the movie a success. Beyonce and Idris were fine actually, it wasn't so horrid as over reviewers mentioned. But of course, I would have loved to known if Beyonce trusted her husband and what the other colleagues felt towards Derek's kookoo woman incident.

Janitor asks him why he's so unhappy with his current life - a beautiful wife and two wonderful kids - he says he just doesn't know and wishes he was 17 again. And a sudden downpour later, he runs home to his friend's place where he's been putting up at since the divorce begun and stares at a 17 year old self (Zac) staring back at him.

Review: I loved it. Matthew did a good job bringing the plight of the main character, his personality and hopes and wishes. I didn't relate his former Friends character; Chandler into the role because of that. Afterall, everyone in their 20s 30s can never forget the fond characters in Friends. I also enjoyed the movie due to Zac Efron's convincing role as the young Matthew. He's both delectable and very very fun to watch. his mishaps and how he almost got kissed by his daughter whom almost fell for his caring ways towards her (he was afterall her dad, just really really young) haha. And I enjoy seeing Leslie Mann whom always gets into characters of a Mom, but always a hot vibrant mom. totally recommend it as a Couple date movie. Girls would love it (the cute Zac). Guys would enjoy it for the comedy and storyline. Families can watch it and love it together too. Its also the kind of movie you could rewatch again and again (well, I'm a female and i am starting to love Zac after watching it! he's sooooo cute!) *cough*
Back in 1988, there was a movie called 18 Again!, full synopsis here It is almost similar in Genre as a Grandpa gets his body switched with his Grandson whom was 18 after a car accident. While his Grandson laid in a state of coma in hospital, he gets into the mode and relishes his high school life and playing Rugby as the fastest runner. He also helps his grandson (himself being in his body) to know & chase his grandson's sweetheart dream girl. Through it all, he got to know his son & daughter-in-law better as they showed how they educated his grandson and spoke well of him. I saw the movie too and i did enjoy it fondly but 17 Again was much more lovable.
9/10 -Good Movie for Couples, Families Movie, Teenagers. -Guys above 25 won't quite like it because there aren't hot young things in there and if you are watching with a bunch of girls or your girlfriend/wife you have to tolerate their endless swoonings towards Matthew & Zac.
Genre: Comedy, Romance Cast: Andy Lau, Shu Qi, Denise Ho, Cheung Tat-Ming, Ella Koon, Maria Cordero, George Lam, Zhang Hanyu, Lam Ka Wah, Zhang Xinyi, David Chiang Released: 12 February 2009 Synopsis: (from moviexclusive) It’s hardly a coincidence that Sam is considered the most eligible bachelor in town. Not only is he a young, smart and insightful entrepreneur with a coveted fortune, but he also happens to be a blithe spirit with a carefree attitude to life. However, every success has its price. Sam has already divorced three times and finds himself crawling back to the game of love sooner than he has expected.
It is love at first sight when Sam chances upon a feisty, fast-talking woman with the odd name of Milan at a Macau casino. But the catch is, she is a part-time poker dealer and a full-time cabaret dancer, “careers” not exactly congruent with his station in life. Fallen in love against all odds, the mismatched couple soon makes headline in all media which turn Milan into an It girl overnight.
While Milan is being groomed into a society woman by experts galore, Sam is starting to have cold feet. Suspecting that she might be after his wealth after all, he takes his lawyer’s advice and signs a pre-nuptial agreement, without consulting her. This time, he is gravely mistaken, as this woman he doubts actually has a heart of gold and is looking for true love rather than fame and fortune. When she is asked to sign the document, she is flabbergasted and leaves him.
Review: 7/10 - points for the film setting, the filming style, the talented cast. - minus points for very very veryyyyy predictable storyline (poor girl meets prince charming whom is also very rich) and lame tactics which has been played many times before..couldn't they have utilized a newer song? That Ronan Keating's Say Nothing at all' song playing during the movie which...has been used before in many movies such as Love Actually or something..
Review: This movie is about a simple nice guy whom dishes out the tasties japanese bentos, free of charge to the neighbours and everyone loves him. He's simple minded, perhaps a few bad habits such as digging his nose when thinking or making silly jokes about his dead mom or sneezing a puddle at the worse of times.. but overall, a lovely chubby man that everyone enjoys hanging out with. And after failing 101 times at chasing girls, he does blame his looks for it. Until one day, a lovely & beautiful girl walks into his outlet and....he engages a special team which design a special suit that turns his wishes true.
Its more or less similar to USA's Shallow Hal or to the other movie 200 Pound Beauty whereby there's poking fun at the overly obese. Well, then again, Fat people wouldn't want to watch it but you know, they always seem happy and jovial, i guess it won't hurt to laugh at oneself once in a while. Humans do get a kick out of seeing people worse than themselves, its a cold hard truth. That's why there are movies on people being Ugly (Ugly Betty, The Hottie and Nottie) & Fat (Shallow Hal, 200Pounds Beauty, Nutty Professor) Moreover, being obese has its limitations such as, sitting on the mrt seats, bus seats, taking the plane, sharing a cab, getting into movie theatre seats, all these are daily obstacles for them. Adding, health risks such as heart-attacks, coronary diseases, diabetes, which of course ranks higher for obese but does occur on skinny frames too.
Ok, truthfully, I don't think this movie needs any reviews. Its comedy! Enjoy it! i totally love how music plays from 'La La La Love Song' of Love Vacation whenever the girl turns to look at him. wa hahaha..
